TESTIMONIAL
I have had chronic shoulder, neck, and low-back pain for many many years. I have had many weeks of PT for ulnar nerve pain and also many visits to the chiropractor for lower back pain. While these treatments did resolve the issues at that time, the same thing keeps happening over time. My main wish is to be able to stay active as I age as well as being able to take care of those who depend on me. I did an Awareness Through Movement class with Britta and I immediately noticed a difference, a relaxing of my neck and shoulders. After that, I began Functional Integration because I was starting to experience the same ulnar nerve pain and numbness that I had many years ago. The result has been a lessening of tension and pain that continues to improve. Britta has taught me easy movements to keep improving and continues to help my body learn how to respond and move. Britta is encouraging, thorough, and kind. The sessions are really fun, relaxing, and insightful. I feel so blessed that she has given me a new way to look at what is possible over the long term, that the pain and problems I have had do not have to be chronic or debilitating.

What is Feldenkrais?

The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education, pioneered by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-84), D.Sc., physicist, martial artist, and author, is a powerful tool for self-improvement. This method teaches and enables individuals to move and function with greater ease, efficiency, and effectiveness, leading to a better and richer quality of life. By re-educating the nervous system to improve motor skills and coordination, the method reduces muscular and emotional tension and often eliminates pain. It promotes joint functionality and mitigates repetitive stress injuries. Continued use of the method can lead to higher levels of achievement and technique in the arts and sports. For older adults, regular Feldenkrais lessons promote better balance, facilitate walking, and offer more freedom of movement. For injured dancers, musicians, singers, and athletes, the Feldenkrais Method® guides the recovery process, teaching them to move more resourcefully and without fear.  Moshe Feldenkrais's goal was to “make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy elegant," and this method empowers individuals to achieve these ideals.

Often, people first discover the Feldenkrais Method® as an alternative to physical therapy, acupuncture, or chiropractic therapy. The Feldenkrais Method® has a unique approach in that it works to rewire the brain, revitalizing body and mind. Surrogate neurological pathways restore the person's ability to function more harmoniously, pleasurably, and powerfully.

“ I believe that the unity of mind and body is an objective reality. They are not just parts somehow related to each other, but an inseparable whole while functioning. A brain without body could not think…”
