Few therapies can bring such physical and emotional rewards and so I am compelled to write this review to earnestly recommend trying Feldenkrais. In layman terms, I would describe this therapy as touching body, mind, and soul.

Britta, in her inimitable fashion, creates an atmosphere of calm while instructing and directing her clients. The movements are not complicated, anyone in any condition can join in and still discover the benefits. Britta has a gentle and direct way of incorporating years of study into these sessions, combined with a genuine heart of care. She explains movements so well, using everyday language and relatable concepts. She is an excellent teacher. Her voice and style are calming, pleasant, and reassuring, yet still so authoritative and confident in the Feldenkrais method.
If you struggle, even suffer, with chronic pain or physical limitations, please try a few Feldenkrais sessions. You will not regret this, and will likely find improvement where no other treatments/therapies helped.

Britta introduced me to the Feldenkrais method; I took a class once a week with her in a local summer intensive, and then signed up for classes year long. I then began a new education at New Mexico School for the Arts and discontinued her class. I then reconnected with her and the method when I sustained an injury. This is when I truly began to work deeply with Britta in the Feldenkrais method.

I get a multitude of benefits from working in the Feldenkrais method with Britta. One of these benefits is developing a deeper awareness and understanding of my body. Another benefit is the direct effect my training with Britta has had on my dance technique and everyday life. Through working with Britta, I was also able to reduce the pain I was experiencing due to my injury, and I was able to continue dancing.

As a result of my training with Britta, I am more aware of my body during my daily life activities. In dance, I am able to be more internally aware of my body, and as a result I complete movements in a way that is healthier for my body, and the longevity of my dance path. It has allowed my dancing to be more structurally focused, and as a result of this I am able to think of my body as a whole and be more fluid in my movement.

Practicing Feldenkrais allows me to alter the mindset I have regarding my body. As a dancer, I am harshly critical of my body and the way it moves, and Feldenkrais helps me achieve a more peaceful approach that allows me to relax my critiques, and focus on my wellbeing as a human. During the time where my injury was at its peak, it also calmed my mind to know that I was working with my body and not against it when I was in class with Britta.

I have had a long history working with Britta, and even directing me in the simplest movements, she can make a difference in the way I execute functions within my body. I would say my time training in Feldenkrais with Britta was necessary for me to change my mindset and become a better dancer overall. Britta’s calming yet firm personality helped me achieve my goals as a dancer. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with her. I believe that she has helped me achieve my goals in a way that’s healthy for my mind and body.
